Here’s to a happy retirement

After a rewarding 30 years (and nine months), Hampton Postmaster Valerie Poole retires today. Well wishers came and went and shared good stories, not to mention some of Joanna Young’s excellent cake and some punch. Val will stay busy with other interests. Rumours that the old post office will become a Casino are unfounded, she says.

We all wish her the very best in the next part of her life.

Hampton resident Michèle Kerr is in her 4th year as head coach of the Seakings team of 31 swimmers of all ages.

The opening ceremonies are 08:50am with the first event starting at 9am sharp. There is a day long refreshment canteen plus a BBQ at lunch.

What a feed!

What a feed!

On Friday July 8th, the Lighthouse Committee held their 2nd Annual Lobster supper right at the Hampton wharf. The weather was perfect, the tide was high, the lobsters fresh, and the volunteers plentiful. Ticket holders were rewarded with a full lobster (boiled right at the wharf), potato salad, cole slaw and a fresh bread roll, baked locally. Most people ordered to take away but many enjoyed the ambiance and the weather and set up their tables and chairs right on the wharf or the beach. A whopping 192 customers were served in under 2 hours.
